Physiosphere opens the Road to Future

The Physiosphere manual therapy software was endorsed by the APA at the beginning of this year and represents a remarkable innovation in patient recording systems adapted for manual therapists.

Over the last 5 years it has become evident that a reliable, clear and reputable software package detailing both patient management and practice management, tailored to manual therapists is required.

Aside from the technological appeal of the Physiosphere package, other important issues to consider are improved working efficiency, quality, health cost management and finally, the legal protection of therapists and patients.

The Physiosphere project started in 1999 initiated by Christophe Richoz, a Swiss physiotherapist who undertook his Masters in Manipulative Physiotherapy at UniSA in 1998. Mr Richoz collaborated with other experts in the field and with the technical assistance of creative computer engineers, Physiosphere was born. Over the past three years, Physiosphere has been used in private practice. During this time, the package has been refined by therapists and computer engineers with additional input from the staff of training schools in Australia and Europe, in order to meet the requirements of tools standardisation.

The academic version is already being used in pilot training programmes in Australia and in Europe and is undergoing validation testing.

Physiosphere provides therapists with an efficient and easy to use recording tool, which can also produce instant clinical and financial statistics using user-friendly prompts.

Users can customise invoices and letterheads. With the latest Tablet portable computers featuring handwriting recognition, Physiosphere offers the clinical folder within hand's reach!

Training workshops will be organised by the APA nationwide and current discussion with the APA may result in the accrual of Continuing Education points for these workshops. Furthermore, it appears that Third Party Insurance providers will encourage therapists to use this package as documentation will be easy to locate, retrieve and read.

An additional benefit of the Physiosphere package is that it facilitates development of Clinical Reasoning. The workshop will therefore be a useful reminder and facilitator of clinical reasoning for optimal patient management.
